Just planting a sapling is not enough. We nurse it to become a Tree. A plant needs love and care until it is self-sustainable. As we found, most people forget about the plants after plantation and that is why their survival rate is very low

We invite you to come together with your community (school, college, housing societies etc.) for the betterment of the environment. It is a step towards creating a big change in society.

Evolution of Green Sunrise Hills

Start of the Green Movement on the Barren Sunrise Hills
We started our Green movement with our 1st plantation drive with 3 plants on Environment day – 5th June 2016. The small hill ( today known as Green Sunrise Hills) encompassing an area of around 0f around 40 acres had no trees or vegetation on it similar to its nearby adjoining sister hills.

Reaching 2000 plantation in 2017
Within a year of starting in 2016, where the enthusiasts used water filled cans and lifted them daily to hilltop, the team successfully lifted and installed its 1st Water tank of 5K liters capacity to meet the ever increasing water demand of plants. Soon, water pipelines were laid and waste water from nearby residential societies was bought to the Hill.

Water Management and Other Challenges
The next part of the journey involved digging ponds on the hill to preserve rainwater and creating Continuous Contour Trenches for rainwater harvesting and symmetric distribution of water over the hill. The ride was not a smooth one and the team had to face several challenges such as sheep grazing attacks, fire hazards, and the gathering of the hooligans as well.

Transformed to a lush green forest
With years of hard work and greater community participation, the Green Sunrise Hills stands today as a lush green forest. It is spreading with over 20000 native plant species achieved due to focus on higher plant survival rates and the whole initiative is a true example of how we can come together to develop a sustainable ecological system.
